Explorations Africa put together a fantastic trip with two really special lodges where we stayed with transfers between lodges and flights to and from our lodges! We were pampered the whole way. Safaris were guided by professionals and we had a fantastic time.
My family and I had a great trip to South Africa with the itinerary Antoinette set up for us. Beautiful lodges, great food, excellent guides and personnel every step of the way! The only downside is Explorations does not take credit cards for payment and it is pricey to wire money or go through pay pal living in another country.I would recommend this company to others wanting a super trip to South Africa. I cannot thank Explorations Africa enough! I contacted them through a family referral because I didn't know where to start. Antoinette is very knowledgeable and nailed EVERYTHING we wanted to see and do within our budget. Every detail was well thought out and planned perfectly!
Hi Antoinette:I just wanted to thank you for organizing such an absolutely wonderful trip for us. The safari camps were all so beautiful and different, and the animals were amazing. Nomad does such a great job making the camps perfect, and the people are so friendly, welcoming, and thoughtful. Every imaginable detail has been thought of. You were right - we didn't have to worry about food and water at all. The food at Mahali was especially amazing, although it was excellent everywhere. We will especially miss being woken up with coffee and little homemade goodies being brought to the rooms/tents in the morning....All of the transfers went perfectly, except when one driver took us to the Arusha instead of the Kilimanjaro airport for our flight to Zanzibar. It was easily rectified, as Coastal was stopping at Arusha airport anyway on route to Zanzibar. All of the accommodation was lovely - we especially loved the Emerson Spice in Zanzibar - so artistic and imaginative, and the food was amazing there as well. (We just stayed there for the five course dinner both nights instead of trying to go elsewhere - as you of course suggested....). Stonetown was really interesting, and it was nice to go for long walks on the beach at the beach resort on Zanzibar. Climbing Kilimanjaro was a highlight, and Team Kilimanjaro did a fantastic job ensuring our comfort and safely while doing so. Again - they thought of all the small details to make things go smoothly, and the people were all so friendly, thoughtful, and caring. My only suggestion would be to book a lodge on the side of Arusha closest to Kilimanjaro airport as that would cut down the driving back and forth to the mountain. On the other hand, it was interesting to see some of Arusha on the way through from the airport when we arrived, and the lodge was very nice. All in all it was an absolutely fantastic experience, and we so appreciate your care, organization, prompt and very helpful response to emails and phone calls, and attention to detail in planning and putting together such a wonderful trip for us. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed an amazing experience in South Africa and Zimbabwe this past April. Dan and Antoinette are clearly passionate about Africa; with their combined experience of living and working there, this couple have a wealth of knowledge about many of the African countries. When assisting us with our travel plans, they were clearly committed to organizing a tour that met with our interests and budget.We experienced wonderful guides and camps, exceptional food, transitions between locations (including flights and itinerary) proved to be seamless, and everything was as advertised (no hidden fees or surprises!)
